Charvel Guitar

The Charvel guitar is a popular brand of guitar that was created by Wayne Charvel. They gained their popularity when the rock band Van Halen used the guitar. Then other popular rock bands began using the guitar such as KISS, Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister and other famous groups.

The original Charvel instruments were basically a restyled Fender Stratocaster. They were made in a Strat-shaped body with a single humbucker. They also had a Fender style tremolo bridge. These are unique guitars that have been made in various custom creations. The Charvel company is recognized for the unique Strat designs that many rock guitarists refer to as superstrats.

Wayne Charvel sold his company in 1978 to Grover Jackson. Jackson expanded the brand and introduced the Concorde. This was a very uniquely styled guitar that was not the same as the typical electric rock guitars. They were named after the designer and were called the Rhoads guitars. They were a huge success.

The company brought out three standard series, under which had several different models of guitars. They were the Classic, Fusion and Contemporary models. Each guitar had its own unique feel and look. The contemporary series became very popular amongst the famous rock bands. One of its highest selling guitars were the called the Spectrum.

Custom made guitars are available under each series. These cost more as they are custom creations. Custom designed guitars come in a varied price range. They can cost from a few thousand dollars to several thousand dollars. The Charvel brand has guitars pre-made and custom made that are manageable for most budgets.

Although the company is not as popular as it was in the eighties, there are many series under this brand that are extremely popular. The company manufactures there guitars in Japan along with the United States. The Journeyman is one of the series under the Charvel brand that has very high sales. The Charvel company is still a very respected brand and guitarist from across the world still seek to purchase their instruments.
