Martin Acoustic Guitar

The CF Martin Company began when a German cabinet-makers son left the family business to study guitar making under a master in Vienna. The renowned guitar makers name was Johan Stauffer. Christian Frederick Martin Sr. Made this decision in January of seventeen ninety-six, where he created the first Martin acoustic guitar.

The CF Martin Company is known world wide for making exceptional guitars. Through the years they have kept up with the times by designing and producing many different styles or models of guitars.

Many models of these instruments have a letter designation combined that accompanies the model number. The dreadnought, which is a guitar with a larger body and deeper bass sound, is designated with the letter D.

This was not a popular model initially. People were accustomed to a smaller guitar with a higher sound. Country musicians realized first that the dreadnought was perfect for a nice contrast to the higher pitched violins and mandolins played in this sort of music.

Jumbo guitars are bigger than the dreadnought and has an infinitely more thunderous sound. Its designation is the letter J. The grand auditorium guitar has a unique design and has a larger bout or bottom than the upper the main body. It has the letter M or OOOO on the label. The auditorium model is designated with OOO and is more like how big is the original Martin. Today many people call this a folk guitar.
